For many of us, the motion-detected function is one of the most important features of a security light, and it is so frustrating if our motion detector flood lights are too sensitive or not sensitive enough when we walk around.

If too sensitive, the light will come up even if a tree branch is swagging, if not sensitive, the light will only light up when you are jumping under the light.

Troubleshooting

Don’t let your motion-detecting light be too sensitive

Normally, the package or user manual of the motion detector light bulb will specify the detecting range of the sensor, like 120 or 180 degrees, or 4-6 miles away. So you would need to install or relocate the motion detector away from a busy street, or high places (avoid birds or other moving objects to trigger the sensor.)

If the light won't come on after adjusting and cleaning the sensor, try a simple trick. Turn off the switch (or circuit breaker) and leave it off for 30 minutes or longer. Turn on the breaker and see if the light comes on. If it does, adjust the sensor range and sensitivity as needed, if not, check the sensor or bulb for defective. If it is the bulb to blame, replacing the bulb, but if it is the sensor’s fault, it would be better to buy a new light.motion detector flood light led sensor light outdoor motion activated light switch
